Enhancing the

Education Experience

for Our Children

Historically, PTSA fund raising has been accomplished through a series of individual projects and product sales.  While we will retain those sales that have proven popular and successful, we have begun a new concept in the fund raising to our school.  Our DEVIL DIRECT DONATION drive promises to be a more effective and efficient way to raise the money needed to support our many student activities plus provide funds for additional campus improvement projects.

The PTSA runs with a yearly budget of over $30,000. In order to carry out the goals and plans each year, we need to raise funds. One of our biggest contributions is by way of your membership! We keep about 60% of your $10 membership fee right here at Columbus High. (The rest goes to the county, state, and national PTA organizations) The second way we raise funds is through our yearly t-shirt and hoodie sales. This is not only a fund-raiser, but it is a school spirit project! 2010 finds us adding a new fund raising program: /Flower Power/ is a fund-raising organization that helps groups by donating 50% of the sales of plants, flowers, and bulbs back to the school. Our spring drive runs from January 26 to April 1. Please email efsaucier@knology.net if you would like more information! If this proves successful, we will try a fall drive as well.

And keep your ears open to our various Spirit Nights at restaurants around town. These are easy ways to make your money count toward the PTSA at CHS.

If any of you would ever like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Columbus High PTSA or to a specific project, please let us know! We would be happy to tell you how to do that, and to provide you with a receipt for your taxes. What better place to give your money!

Here’s how Devil Direct Donation works:

  • Join the PTSA.  Each member of your family can join.  Membership dues are $10.00 per person.
  • Make a tax-deductible donation over and above the membership amount.  Gifts of any amount are appreciated.  Receipts for tax purposes are available.
  • Don’t specify where your contribution is to be used and it will be added to the PTSA budget for spending on activities and projects in priority order.
  • Specify the project to which you would like to contribute and your donation will be reserved to fund that project.
  • Your gift will be acknowledged, along with other contributors, on our website and in the Columbus High newsletter.
  • You don’t have to be a PTSA member to donate!  Give a gift in honor of your student, for graduation, or to say “thank you” to your favorite teacher.

Our goal in fund raising is to spend less time and energy producing events that net a small profit and spend more time and energy on projects that directly benefit the school, students, and faculty.

Consider how you would like to support your PTSA.  Complete and return the attached form indicating your membership and direct donation amount.

Feel good that you are making a difference in the high school experience of your student!

Thank You,

CHS PTSA
